Metal Detecting 31 is an in-person interest club for people to meet-up whom enjoy the hobby of metal detecting and that are located along Michigan's US 31 & Lakeshore region.
This month’s topic will be - “Gold - Understanding its Signals”
Gold is something almost every detectorist sets out to find in one form or another, but it can be extremely elusive if you’re not sure what to listen or look for while detecting.
Gold can be extremely elusive because it is defined as a “trash” metal when it comes to the sliding scale of elements your detector give you on its readout.
During this month’s meeting, we’ll be testing various gold targets with several different metal detectors to see how and if they respond to each gold target depending on shape, size, thickness, and purity of gold within the target. We hope you learn a little bit more about what your detector says when swinging over a gold target so that you may find even more treasure on each of your hunts!

Meeting Location
Viking Athletic & Activity Complex entrance.
April 6th, 2023 will be the next meeting for the Club and it will be held at the Viking Athletic & Activity Complex (VAC) in Whitehall, Michigan from 7pm-8pm in the community conference room.
The conference room is located to the right of the welcome desk as you enter the building using the West entrance (main entrance).
This Club meeting is FREE and open to the general public to come and learn about the Club, ask questions about metal detecting, and perhaps even learn a little more about some local history!
If you like what you see, considered an annual membership to join and attend future Club meetings and events with the Metal Detecting 31 Club. Annual membership is only $10/family. (In this instance, a family is considered the initial joining member, their spouse, and all dependents living with them under the age of 18).
